Autumm / Winter 2011
For Fall/Winter 2010 Markus Lupfer, known for his knitwear and trans-seasonal collections, takes inspiration from the concept of ‘Sunday Best.’
In keeping with his tradition of creating contemporary feminine collections, this season the Markus Lupfer collection grows in size, introducing luxe loungewear and touches of outerwear, while also defining his pared down aesthetic further. Distinctly feminine yet with subtle androgynous undertones, Fall/Winter 2010 nods gently to a sophisticated figure in subdued colours including black, cream, oyster, grey, plaid and tartan. Slim and short, dresses are playful with a reverential charm. Nostalgic, a wool dress with silk chiffon shoulder detail flutes out into a wide pleated skirt; black and coral tartan joins a v neck sleeveless dress with a ruffle trim around the waist - a subtle playful detail; nude jersey skims the body, overlayed in detail with black tulle, hardening this overtly feminine style. Styles are relaxed with accessories including mohair sequined scarves, nonchalantly wrapped around the wearer’s neck.
Witty knitwear remains a key part of the collection, long sleeved sweaters in shades of grey are embellished, printed and embroidered with our most loved pets – often paired with a contrasting sequined legging, or slim plaid skirt. Defining the refreshingly relaxed collection further is the use of jersey throughout; from printed form fitting shifts to cardigans and leggings, there is a distinct air of versatility and modern loungewear.
Outerwear is structured, playing with proportions. A double breasted coat in grey plaid is strong in shape; the cape has developed, again seen in grey plaid, shoulders are pronounced - tiered and trimmed in contrasting knitted ribbon, the zip detail instantly modernising this affectionately regarded piece of outerwear. The Markus Lupfer girl continues to evolve for Fall/Winter 10. Increasingly feminine with a definite edge, she suggests an ease in her contemporary style.
